Last week, our Elementary students wrapped up the Bedlam Food Drive. OSU was the winner with 409 items donated while OU came in 2nd with a total of 273 items donated. The 2nd Grade and 5th Grade were the winners for the classes that brought the most food items. Overall, the school donated 580 pounds of food to our local food pantry, which could not come at a better time with the holidays quickly approaching.
A big thank you goes to the Okeene Chamber of Commerce who awarded pizza for the class winners and raffle prizes for students who participated in the food drive. Those businesses included The Dog House, Spiced Magnolia Mercantile, and Luckie Drug. The grand prizes which included Amazon and Dollar General giftcards were donated by Burghardt Farms.

Day number one at FFA National Convention is in the books. The day started off with a tour of Ozark fisheries where the students learned about all aspects of raising and selling gold fish and koi fish. After a short lunch break at an awesome BBQ restaurant in Martinsville, we went on our second tour at Hunters Honey Farm. Here students learned how every aspect of the honey and bee process goes, learned how beeswax candles are made, and they even got their own personal bottle of honey. Then we rounded out the tours with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a little fun. We even got to kiss the bricks. We are ready for the first day of convention tomorrow at the National FFA center.
